About us
Tutoring that’s never dull, repetitive or unproductive
Refined Learning was set up by Liam Donoher to do online tutoring differently. Our aim is to help children find a genuine love for learning, through lessons that adapt to them and content they actually find interesting.
We listen to feedback from both you and your child, and after every lesson you’ll get our own feedback on progress and next goals.

What we teach
One-to-one, one-hour lessons online via Microsoft Teams, for children in Key Stage 2 (Years 3–6).
Maths
KS2 Maths, explained step by step: building confidence with number, problem-solving and reasoning.
English
KS2 English: reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary, taught through content your child enjoys.
11+ preparation
Realistic practice questions and exams, tailored to your child’s exam board.
SATs preparation
Practice papers and focused revision so your child walks into their SATs ready.

Safe, simple and set up for success
Your child’s safety
- Enhanced DBS check, registered on the Update Service
- Everyone your child works with is safeguarding trained
- Every lesson is recorded and kept for at least 30 days
- We ask that a parent or carer stays within earshot during lessons
- Any safeguarding concern is reported to the relevant authorities
What your child needs
- A computer, laptop or tablet (the bigger the screen, the better)
- A pencil, rubber and ruler (and a pen if they use one)
- A notebook or plenty of paper for working out
- A desk or table, a quiet space and some water
